Dahdaleh Institute faculty member Prof. Idil Boran is a full delegate at COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. This 26th annual summit brings parties together to accelerate action toward the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Prof. Boran is hosting an official side event鈥擬ulti-Level Action for Biodiversity and Climate: Planetary Challenge & Lessons from Latin America鈥攊n partnership with organizations and researchers from across Latin America and Europe.

Prof. Boran will also participate in an invitation-only meeting on tracking the progress of biodiversity and climate change action by non-Party actors (including businesses, investors, civil society organizations, cities and regions, and networks).
Leading up to COP26, Prof. Boran organized a special knowledge-exchange dialogue for multi-level joint action for climate nature and people, aiming to bridge research, policy, and practice. This dialogue brought researchers and practitioners together for in-depth discussions on joint action for climate, nature, and people. With over 100 participants across 11 countries, the event featured a combination of mainstage plenaries and parallel workshop sessions.
Highlighting the impacts of climate change on human health and the urgency of taking climate action now, Prof. Boran is calling on Canada to 鈥渓ead a climate-smart transformation.鈥 As she , 鈥渁ccelerated action requires a 鈥榳hole of society approach,鈥 with efforts at all levels. It requires a change of mindset and a new approach to our relationship with nature.鈥
Prof. Idil Boran is associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at 快播视频. At the Dahdaleh Institute, she leads the Synergies of Planetary Health Research Initiative and Lab. She was recently appointed associate director of CIFAL York, the first Canadian UN leadership training centre, and she is an associate researcher with the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut f眉r Entwicklungspolitik (DIE).
