Angel George Buendia is a recent graduate of the Global Health program at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ, with a specialization in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
She is currently involved in a ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ-funded study on the impact of the 2024 CUPE 3309 labour strike on undergraduate students’ mental health as a Research Assistant under Dr. Benedict Weobong and PhD candidate Queenie Cheung at the Dahdaleh Institute of Global Health Research.
Her work includes designing recruitment instruments and coordinating recruitment logistics, liaising with York community members, faculty, and departments, tracking deliverables, and conducting research on assigned study areas.
Additionally, she is also working on a separate project with Dr. Weobong to evaluate how course components as experiential learning experience, could influence student perspectives.
Apart from her present works which primarily focus on the theme of mental health, Angel hopes to work on the issue of healthcare accessibility and governance, both in research and practice in the future.
