Communities are the future of Humanitarian Action

SeeChange is a social purpose organization that firmly believes that communities can lead the responses to
health crises that affect them. We seek to create meaningful and lasting change, contributing to a paradigm shift in the humanitarian response system. Using an innovative approach, CommunityFirst, we forge partnerships with structurally oppressed communities in the Canadian Arctic, Latin America, and West Africa and co-design strategies that enable them to cope with health emergencies. SeeChange’s CommunityFirst approach aims to co-design humanitarian responses with communities in a way that leverages their agency and resources before, during, and after a humanitarian health crisis. We strive to influence humanitarian organizations and state actors to center communities at the center of humanitarian responses. We focus on action, impact, and sustainable change at the community level, addressing systemic barriers and emphasizing the role of the most vulnerable groups as drivers of change.
