Job description

Under the supervision of Professor Tarra Penney, the Equitable Global Health Research Partnership Research Assistant (for up to 25 hours per week) will contribute to research to support the mobilization of principles with the potential to guide research practice and policy in a global health context by:

• Supporting the ‘Equitable global health research practice and partnership’ project
• Assist the research and engagement activities with the project team
• Attend and actively engage in weekly team meetings and wider project meetings
• Provide additional administrative and logistical support as needed

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

• Qualitative data collection – contribute to developing participate databases and developing materials for interviews and systems workshops
• Qualitative data analysis – support qualitative coding of data via a collaborative coding platform (i.e., Dedoose)
• System mapping or network analysis – supporting the development of causal loop diagrams (i.e. systems maps), or code content from literature of interviews
• Evidence synthesis – support searching, identifying, coding and summarizing peer-reviewed or grey literature as part of ongoing systematic scoping reviews, using a collaborative platform (i.e., Covidence)
• Managing peer-reviewed literature using the group bibliography software (i.e., Zotero)
• Support the planning of global research team meetings as needed
• Supporting research administration and coordination as needed
• Attend and actively participate in weekly team meetings and other project meetings as required

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate York student. Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged. • Demonstrated interest in global health, equity and/or food systems research
• Completed a research methods course as part of degree
• Demonstrated skills in qualitative data collection, analysis or evidence synthesis
• Ability to work as part of a team and also independently
• Highly organized and excellent time management skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills, especially professional email etiquette
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn, support the team and take on new tasks
