Dr. Sebastian Ken-Amoah is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Medical Sciences, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. He also serves as a clinician-educator at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) and is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons (FGCS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He began his career in the Ghana Health Service, serving as a Medical Officer and later a Senior Specialist for over a decade. During this period, he contributed significantly to maternal and reproductive healthcare. Upon transitioning to academia, he played a key role in establishing the postgraduate residency training programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at CCTH to address the growing need for specialist care. He has consistently championed institutional capacity-building through clinical mentorship, medical education, and research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Ken-Amoah\u2019s research interests span cervical cancer prevention, women\u2019s health, and quality assurance in healthcare delivery. More recently, he has begun exploring global health governance and the impact of resource insecurity on vulnerable populations. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and participated in numerous collaborative research initiatives. He is a co-recipient of major grants, including the German Research Foundation (DFG) award under the African-German Scientific Collaboration in Public Health and the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant focused on innovative approaches to cervical cancer prevention in low-resource settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has held leadership positions including Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCC and Lead Clinician on the Maternal Health sub-Business Management Committee at CCTH. He currently coordinates the Oncology and Palliative Care module at the School of Medical Sciences and remains actively engaged in training and research to enhance cervical cancer prevention and maternal health outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Ken-Amoah holds professional memberships in the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Ghana (SOGOG), the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS), and the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
