Community Scholar Carol Devine<\/a> is a participant at the 2019 Global Symposium on Reimagining Community in the 21st Century, hosted by the Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness.<\/p>\n

She is co-facilitating a session on Individual and Collective Action called Addressing the Crises of Forced Migration and Protection<\/i> where participants play a prototype social game Devine created for Doctors Without Borders \/ M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res (MSF) called This is Not a Game: Forced to Flee Northern Central America<\/i>. The game is accompanied by a discussion how individuals and organizations \"can cultivate agency and take action to improve livelihoods, health and sustainability.\"<\/p>\n

The sessions draws on some of the learnings Devine experienced with researcher Linn Biorklund Belliveau<\/a> during their joint Dahdaleh Institute-MSF field visit. The trip to Mexico and the border of Guatemala in Spring 2019 took them to MSF clinics supporting migrants from North Central America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
