Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/careers.yorku.ca\/online-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">careers.yorku.ca\/online-system\/<\/a> and search for the posting with the Job ID (listed above).<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Hourly Wage:<\/strong> $18 per hour<\/p>\n<p><strong>Weekly Hours:<\/strong> 12 hours per week<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start Date:<\/strong> May 5, 2021<\/p>\n<p><strong>End Date:<\/strong> August 31, 2021<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Job Description<\/h3>\n<p>Under the supervision of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalstrategylab.org\/team\/mathieu-poirier\">Dr. Mathieu Poirier<\/a>, the Global Legal Epidemiology RAY student will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the development of a global legal epidemiology study of tobacco control measures\u2019 impacts in Europe over the last 45 years;<\/li>\n<li>Support the \u201cQuasi-experimental equity evaluation of COVID-19 interventions in Latin American and Canadian cities\u201d project;<\/li>\n<li>Provide support to grant applications, administrative duties, and communications activities related to global legal epidemiology;<\/li>\n<li>Develop skills needed for rigorous social science research on COVID-19 equity and tobacco control;<\/li>\n<li>Attend and actively participate in occasional Global Strategy Lab meetings and seminars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Gathering data from international government agencies and research organizations;<\/li>\n<li>Compiling and cleaning quantitative and qualitative data in Excel, Word, and other software;<\/li>\n<li>Creating a structured and annotated bibliographic review of existing literature;<\/li>\n<li>Managing sources using Zotero reference management software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Critical thinking;<\/li>\n<li>Data collection and cleaning;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting literature review;<\/li>\n<li>Reference management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Methodological training on data collection and analysis;<\/li>\n<li>Subject matter training on global legal epidemiology;<\/li>\n<li>Regular status meetings with your supervising full-time faculty and staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Current undergraduate York student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study);<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in global health;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with data collection and literature review;<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds\/cultures;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills: professional email\/phone correspondence;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets);<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates organizational and time management skills;<\/li>\n<li>Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read and\/or write in Spanish, Portuguese, or other language would be considered an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>List of applications materials:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Cover Letter<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<li>Short writing sample<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job ID: 27501 Application Deadline: Thursday, April 22, 2021 @11:59pm Eligibility Criteria: sfs.yorku.ca\/work-study-programs\/how-to-apply-for-ray-positions Applications are only accepted through the Career Centre.
