Prof. Boran's activities in Glasgow revolve around these planetary health linkages.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Boran will also participate in an invitation-only meeting on tracking the progress of biodiversity and climate change action by non-Party actors (including businesses, investors, civil society organizations, cities and regions, and networks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading up to COP26, Prof. Boran organized a special knowledge-exchange dialogue for multi-level joint action for climate nature and people, aiming to bridge research, policy, and practice. This dialogue brought researchers and practitioners together for in-depth discussions on joint action for climate, nature, and people. With over 100 participants across 11 countries, the&nbsp;event featured a combination of mainstage plenaries and parallel workshop sessions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlighting the impacts of climate change on human health and the urgency of taking climate action now, Prof. Boran is calling on Canada to \u201clead a climate-smart transformation.\u201d As she&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweathernetwork.com\/ca\/news\/article\/canadians-have-highest-lifestyle-carbon-footprint-of-all-nations-in-this-study\">recently explained to the Weather Network<\/a>, \u201caccelerated action requires a \u2018whole of society approach,\u2019 with efforts at all levels. It requires a change of mindset and a new approach to our relationship with nature.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a6430322-bc70-4674-81cb-0e604d0b01e5\">Prof. Idil Boran is associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ. At the Dahdaleh Institute, she leads the Synergies of Planetary Health Research Initiative and Lab. She was recently appointed associate director of CIFAL York, the first Canadian UN leadership training centre, and she is an associate researcher with the German Development Institute \/ Deutsches Institut f\u00fcr Entwicklungspolitik (DIE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-5173aace-b3ca-4741-bb79-ae6b59e505bb\">She has actively participated in the UN Climate Change Conferences, organizing and speaking at side events, since 2012. Along with journal publications on global climate change governance, Boran is the author of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Political-Theory-and-Global-Climate-Action-Recasting-the-Public-Sphere\/Boran\/p\/book\/9781138303621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Political Theory and Global Climate Action: Recasting the Public Sphere<\/em>&nbsp;(Routledge, 2019).<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dahdaleh Institute faculty member&nbsp;Prof. Idil Boran&nbsp;is a full delegate at COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
