{"id":1406,"date":"2020-11-11T12:47:02","date_gmt":"2020-11-11T17:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/dighr\/project\/chemical-water-quality-malnourished-child-health\/"},"modified":"2022-05-06T14:34:32","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T18:34:32","slug":"chemical-water-quality-malnourished-child-health","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/dighr\/project\/chemical-water-quality-malnourished-child-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemical Water Quality &#038; Malnourished Child Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Concerns about chemical water quality in intensive therapeutic feeding centres (ITFCs) have persisted among humanitarian fieldworkers for a decade, yet there are no established guidelines for the chemical makeup of water added to the therapeutic feeding and rehydration products used to treat children with severe acute malnutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research seeks knowledge synthesis toward evidence-based provisional chemical water quality guidelines for ITFCs and field management strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project:<br>1. Establishes guidelines for maximum allowable concentrations of key chemical water quality parameters in ITFCs.<br>2. Identifies potential technical approaches and innovations for improving chemical water quality in humanitarian field settings.<br>3.
