Welcome<\/strong> to the Toronto Metropolitan University BA Early Childhood Studies<\/strong> students<\/strong> who will begin the BEd teaching certification program with the Faculty of Education on Wednesday, May 7th at the TMU campus. Reminder, look at the Google calendar <\/a>to see class plans (dates\/time). Your Academic Advisor, Jane Larsson will email the TMU BED students with the room number\/location for the classes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advising packages for BEd yr. 2 (Semester 3 and 4) 2025-26<\/strong>
The Students Services team will be working on the Yr. 2 Advising\/Enrollment packages for FW 2025. Once the packages are complete, they will be sent by email to all students returning and continuing in the BEd program this September. Included in the package will be the courses, Monday - Friday class schedule (google program calendars<\/a>), EDUC elective choices, ED 2 Practicum meetings, reminder to reapply for Police Record Check\/VSS and any other important dates for FW 2025 academic year. We plan to have the packages ready the last week of May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BEd students moving into Year 2 for 2025-26 Information Sessions<\/strong>
The Undergraduate Program Office will be offering two information sessions for those students in the BEd program who will be enrolled in Year 2 this F\/W 2025-26 session. The sessions will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 3:00pm and Friday, May 30th at 11:00am. Those students who cannot join the session we will be recording it and posting in the June 2025 newsletter. June 2025 graduation - BEd students<\/strong>
BEd students graduating in June 2025 will be applying to the Ontario College of Teachers to become certified members. There are several steps students will need to take to ensure there are no delays nominating BEd graduates. Full nomination to the Ontario College of Teachers by the Faculty of Education will not be submitted until late May \/ early June 2025 when final grades and practicum days are completed successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Review the OCT application informatio<\/strong>n at https:\/\/apps.oct.ca\/OLR\/Template.aspx?action=rege<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Apply for OCT membership\/registration:<\/strong> Visit: www.oct.ca<\/a> select Members and then Create an Account. In order for the BEd Student Services Office to send your recommendation, we require the six-digit OCT registration<\/strong> number for each graduating teacher candidate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Submit the six-digit Ontario College Teachers (OCT) registration number by June 1, 2025, to the Faculty of Education. The online form is available on the Faculty of Education website. Convocation and OCT membership | Faculty of Education<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Apply to graduate (degree audit review): Concurrent BEd students needed to apply to graduate online using the convocation website at http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/mygrad\/preparing\/<\/a>apply Deadline was March 1, 2025. Please note, Concurrent BEd students would have only seen their Bachelor of Education record when requesting to graduate. These students needed to submit a request for a degree audit of their undergraduate program. The form to submit the request: https:\/\/registrar.yorku.ca\/graduation\/apply\/forms<\/a> . Students in the Consecutive BEd model will be automatically reviewed for degree completion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Send Transcripts to OCT <\/strong>~ Graduating BEd teacher candidates will need to order all post-secondary transcripts and be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers. The Faculty of Education cannot order students transcripts, it\u2019s the responsibility of students. When ordering transcripts, please indicate that you wish for your 快播视频 transcript to be sent after degree completion. Please order your transcript while completing your OCT application, using the OUAC Transcript Request available at https:\/\/www.ouac.on.ca\/apply\/oct\/en_CA\/user\/login<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Recommendation to OCT<\/strong> - The Faculty of Education will only send your recommendation to OCT following degree(s) completion. Transcripts ordered by the student and the recommendation sent by the Faculty of Education are required for certification.
    Those students who have submitted their request for Transitional Certificate and recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers, the Faculty of Education, Office of Student Services will use this information (OCT Registry number) for final OCT recommendation\/ submission. Students will need to re-order their 快播视频. transcript to show OCT the degree(s) conferred.
    This will also include the Toronto Metropolitan University ECS BA\/PJ BEd students completing the teaching program requirements at the end of July and wishing to request the Transitional Certificate. Information on the Transitional Certificate will be shared with the TMU BA\/BEd students in early May. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    \n\n\n\n

    Convocation Ceremonies<\/strong>
    Taking part in your convocation ceremony is a memorable occasion and we strongly encourage all graduating students to attend and celebrate this milestone with family and friends.
    The Faculty of Education ceremony will be held on     Monday June 16, 2025 3:30pm<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    RSVP<\/strong>
    Students who are deemed potentially eligible to graduate in June 2025 or who have graduated in absentia in February 2025, will be sent an invitation to Spring 2025 Convocation by email with instructions on how to RSVP online for their ceremony.
    Completing the RSVP form will let the University know that you are attending your ceremony and will ensure your robe rental is arranged. When you RSVP you will also be able to claim your guest tickets.
    Invitations to convocation will be sent 4 to 6 weeks prior to your ceremony and will continue to be sent on an ongoing basis as students become potentially eligible to graduate.     BA students who are moving into level 4 for FW 2025-26 (will have completed ED\/ EDST 3999) can plan one of the two ED\/EDST 4999 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. C4: Cross - Campus Capstone Classroom<\/a>
      Students interested in the C4: Cross Campus Capstone Classroom must apply for the C4 Fall\/Winter 2025\/2026 session. Registration is open now for the C4 option and can plan to attend an information session to get more information on this.
      Please note<\/strong>, there is a summer offering of C4 (C4 Sprint 3.00 credits) If students enrolled in the summer option, they cannot enroll in the FW 2025-26 C4 section. More information is available at       https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/c4\/apply-for-c4\/2024-2025\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      BA Educational Studies students enrolling in ED\/EDST 3999 6.00<\/a><\/strong>
      Information Session for students moving into Level 3<\/strong>
      The Office of Students Services will be providing a virtual information session for BA students moving into level 3 (level 3 = 54 credits complete by end of summer) this September. The session will be offered on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 2:00pm<\/strong>.
      We will discuss courses planned for FW 2025-26, program requirements, how to review your Degree Progress Report, and for those students who will have completed a minimum of 54.00 credits by August 2025, enroll in EDST 3999 - Experience, Inquire and Contribute (EIC). The EIC offers learning placements within the community or in related organizations as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies program. The placements are workplace-based learning to put theory to practice in the field of learning and education.
      Required: Students enrolling in ED\/EDST 3999 6.00 must have a VSS for the academic year 2025-2026. Please apply early, so that your new VSS has an issue date of July 1, 2025. The session will be recorded for those students who cannot join us. How to register to attend the session will be in the June newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Faculty of Education Undergraduate Certificate in Educational Developmen<\/strong>t
      Students must be registered in the in the Honours BA (Educational Studies) program and complete the requirements concurrently. This degree requires the completion of 120 credits. Students must complete the BA major 42.00 credits in Educational Studies and must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least C+ (5.0). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How to plan for the certificate:<\/strong>
      \uf0a7 EDST3500 Introduction to Educational Development<\/em> second or third year<\/strong> of study.
      \uf0a7 EDST3510 Teaching and supporting teaching online<\/em>. You may take this at the same time as EDST3500, or after completing 3500<\/strong>, second or third year<\/strong> of study.
      \uf0a7 EDST4998 Advanced Studies and Practices in Educational Development.<\/em> After completing the other two courses<\/strong>. Likely in your 3rd or 4th year of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      REMINDER Grade requirements for the Bachelor of Education<\/strong>
      Students will be ineligible to continue in the Bachelor of Education teaching certification degree \/ program if they receive less than a grade of C+ in any course taken for education credit. In the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, students complete both a community-based practicum placement and three school-based practicum placements. School placements are supervised by an Ontario Certified Teacher. Students are required to complete all practicum days successfully in order to complete their degree programs. Further details on the practicum experience can be found online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      NOTE: This course is open only to 快播视频 Faculty of Education undergraduate students. This course is not equivalent to the Religious Education, Part 1 additional qualification. Students who are in the CEC BEd (Catholic Education Centre) cohort will have completed EDUC 3000 \u201cTeaching in the Catholic Schools\u201d in their first year of the BEd.
