BA Educational Studies Students<\/strong> - Program requirements<\/strong>

Reminder <\/strong>BEd Students heading into Year 2 for FW 2026-2027 must submit Practicum Placement Zone preferences and School Board Choice by Friday, April 10, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALL<\/strong> BEd students returning to complete Year 2 must submit their Practicum Placement Location\/Zone Choice for the 2026-2027 academic year. Students will log on to the Practicum Information Management System<\/a> (PIMs) to <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Select the School Geographical Zone Preferences<\/strong> and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The School Board choice <\/strong>of either Public or Catholic<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If you do not<\/strong> have the \u201cPracticum Placement Preferences\u201d <\/strong>option available to you, please email practicumoffice@edu.yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    All students returning to complete their year 2 school practicum requirements this September, must submit a request for a school placement regardless of if one was previously submitted.  If preferences are not received by the deadline date, we cannot confirm a school placement for September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please note, we only place within our six partner GTA School Boards, no exceptions are made. Students must be prepared to travel a minimum of 90 minutes<\/strong> to their school placement. Placements are confirmed according to geographical zone choice and not based on where a student resides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please be aware that all practicum placements are confirmed by our partner school boards and our ability to secure placements is dependent on the availability of host mentor teachers at participating schools---and include considerations for OCT practicum accreditation requirements. While you may request specific placement zones with our Practicum Office, we are at the invitation of our partner school boards to confirm these placements. We cannot guarantee placement availability in your requested zone\/school board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Students must apply for a new VSS for academic year 2026-2027. Please apply early, so that your new VSS has an issue date of July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Planning summer 2026 course for BA and BEd students<\/strong>
    All BA Educational Studies students continuing to FW 2026-27 have a summer enrollment window to enroll in courses. Year 1 BEd students moving to year 2 and interested in an ED\/EDUC elective offered in May\/June (not required enroll for summer as students can plan in F\/W 2026-27) have a summer enrolment window.  Please check your student record to see the first date for summer enrolment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    BA EDST students SU 2026 C4 offering<\/strong>
    Students interested in the C4: Cross Campus Capstone Classroom must apply for the C4 Summer session. This summer offering of C4 (C4 Sprint 3.00 credits) will count towards BA 39.00 credits at the 3000\/4000 level within or outside of the major EDST.    More information is available at      https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/c4\/apply-for-c4\/fall-winter-summer-c4-3-0\/<\/a>  The summer offering should be posted in March or sooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Primary\/Junior<\/em><\/strong> candidates must complete a total of three elective courses<\/strong> - one math based, one language\/literacy based and one open choice to satisfy their BEd degree requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Junior\/Intermediate <\/em><\/strong>candidates must complete a total of two elective courses<\/strong> - one Math or<\/strong> Literacy based and one open choice to satisfy their BEd degree requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Intermediate\/Senior<\/em><\/strong> and Technological Education<\/strong> candidates must complete a total of three elective courses<\/strong> to satisfy their BEd degree requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Glendon FSL BEd \u2013 PJ<\/em><\/strong> and JI one<\/strong> Math elective and IS one<\/strong> open elective.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    BA EDST students moving into level 2 (2nd<\/sup> year for FW 2026)<\/strong>
    The Faculty of Education, Office of Student Services offered two virtual information sessions on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:30am and 2:30pm <\/strong>for students that are completing their first year in the program.  The session was     recorded<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    BA EDST level 3 and 4 students -<\/strong> The Faculty of Education, Student Services team will be offering virtual information sessions in early June 2026 to provide information on course offering, degree progress report, planning your schedule and important dates. The date and time will be posted in the May 2026 newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
