As a vulnerable population, children\u2019s lives are at the mercy of the adult community. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has threatened children\u2019s lives and severed them from their everyday lives. Overnight, their lives have become unimaginable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In times of social and political conflict, children are overlooked, positioned either as bystanders or victims. Despite their front-line experience of wartime events, children\u2019s voices are barely heard. And too often, children are often the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.refworld.org\/docid\/3f4f595a12.html\">only ones left behind<\/a> to account for what happened to their parents, communities and homelands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"For the past 20 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1093\/acrefore\/9780190264093.013.1561\">my research has examined children\u2019s expressions of social and political events<\/a>, in particular, those affected by war, forced migration and mass degradation\", says Associate Professor Aparna Mishra-Tarc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"Mostly, the narratives of children who experience war and political and social violence are undocumented <a href=\"https:\/\/international-review.icrc.org\/articles\/my-story-childrens-war-memoirs-and-challenging-protectionist-discourses\">and unheard<\/a>.
