Congratulations to this year’s prize winners Rita Josée Philips and Maha Toeima in recognition of excellent academic achievement and outstanding contribution to the Communications program.

Here is what Maha Toeima and Rita Josée Philips had to say when asked about their experience in Communications from the perspective of graduating students:

“My favorite part about the Communications program is that we had a mix of theoretical and practical courses. Additionally, most courses covered current Communications challenges, which helped me implement what I am studying in the real world. I have enjoyed all of my assignments because the Communications professors always encourage us to be creative and not hesitate to showcase our ideas and personalities.”

Maha Toeima

"I loved the COMS program at Glendon. It has opened the door to so many opportunities, helping me grow and get ready to enter the workforce. The professors in the program are incredible. They care about your progress, and challenge you to be the best you can be."

Rita Josée Philips

On Saturday, June 18, 2022 Glendon graduates were able to experience an in-person convocation ceremony for the first time in two years.

One of our amazing graduates, Naima Sood, shared these words about her experiences in the Communications program and at Glendon College:

“The COMS program has shaped me into a strong, confident and resilient person who is ready to take on the next chapter of my life. The Communications department has been an anchor, supportive and always available. I am motivated by my professors and my learnings to have a career in the field of Communication and Marketing. My dream is to be part of the infotainment industry be it news, food, travel, culture. I am looking forward to applying all the theories learnt in the classroom into the workspace and see the ideas we have discussed through university come to fruition. Graduating from a bilingual degree with a major in Sociology with a minor in Communications and a certificate in law and social thought from Glendon has been a beautiful journey.”

Professor Evan Light joined the proceedings and had this to say about the event:

“It was amazing and emotional to see so many students in-person for the first time in over 2 years, thinking about the intense journeys we've been on together in this time, some for the first time ever! With a total of around 400 students attending both graduations (one for those who graduated virtually over the last 2 years, one for those graduating this year), I'd say there were around 2500 people who turned out to support them. It was wonderful to be there with you all and to meet some parents, too, some who traveled from quite far (New Delhi, Yellowknife).”

Congratulations to all the graduates, and best of luck in your future endeavours!

Congratulations to this year’s prize winners Virginie Andrea Côté (Communications Major) and Valérie Marie Cécile Moniqu Durette (Communications Major) in recognition of excellent academic achievement and outstanding contribution to the Communications program.

Here is what one of our winners had to say when asked about their experience in COMS from the lens of a graduating student:

“One of my favourite parts of the program is that we covered theoretical communication and practical communication. I learned practical skills that will help me in the workplace, such as HTML and the adobe suite. Some of my best professors during my studies were from the communications program; they cared about their students and wanted our success.”

Valérie Marie Cécile Moniqu Durette

Congratulations again to you both and good luck with all of your future endeavours!
