The newsletter encapsulates information for our graduate community and campus partners; which includes key dates, important information, relevant news stories, financial opportunities, scholarships and awards, events of interest, and ways for grad students and postdocs to enhance their experience while here at York. The newsletter is created in digest format with links to more information. Newsletters are archived on the FGSnews website with the current term and previous term of all three editions available so visitors can review prior versions of the newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Audience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The newsletter is aimed at all current graduate students and postdoctoral visitors\/fellows in the CRM system for the current term; along with our graduate Faculty partners \u2013 i.e. graduate program directors, graduate program assistants, operation managers, and graduate associate deans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Distribution Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>FGSnews is generally distributed on the last Thursday of each month showcasing information for month upcoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission Protocols and Deadlines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A <em>Call for Submissions <\/em>email is sent out two weeks before the Thursday publication date to graduate community and campus partners. All submissions must be sent to <a href=\"mailto:fgsinfo@yorku.ca\">fgsinfo@yorku.ca<\/a> by 4:30pm Thursday preceding the Thursday publication date. Submissions received after this time will not be included in the newsletter. Submissions should be no more than three\u2013four lines (roughly equivalent to 360 characters) and should include a link where possible. Submissions should be AODA compliant. If it\u2019s appropriate, content may be featured in more than one edition of FGSnews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There is no guarantee your submission will be published<\/strong>. Content is placed within the body of the newsletter at the publisher\u2019s discretion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Themes and Subject Matter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Content to be included in FGSnews must be relevant to a large portion of graduate students and\/or postdoctoral visitors\/fellows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Topical themes include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Graduate student news;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Institutional announcements;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connecting, including how to connect (e.g. YUGSA) and why to connect (benefits), program-level events;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate &amp; Postdoctoral Professional Skills (GPPS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learning skills and academic supports (teaching commons, libraries, writing centre, learning commons);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health and wellness, including mental health, child care, sport (recreation), and getting active (e.g. yoga, walking);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funding, scholarships and awards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important dates (related to academic calendar, milestone deadlines, records and University closures);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International including exchanges;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>York reputation, including grad student\/faculty\/postdoc accomplishments, what we do well and alumni stories; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grad student support (accessibility, counselling, community education, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Subject matter includes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Events (exhibits, screenings, talent shows, productions, etc.);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important dates and deadlines relating to grad students\u2019 academic and financial activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>York themed campaigns;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Institutional surveys engaging grad student participation; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guests speakers, symposiums, conferences, workshops, webinars open to grad students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>FGSnews <strong>does not<\/strong> accept submissions for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Events not affiliated with ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soliciting participation in university-related assignments, coursework or research projects; (personal course projects, studies, surveys or clinical trials); or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commercial projects or initiatives for monetary gain (selling items or services).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language Supported<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions in French are welcome, but you must also provide an English translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tone and Voice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>FGSnews submissions are non-promotional, adopting a \u201ctell not sell\u201d tone. They should be informative, educational, entertaining, timely and relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission Request Format<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All submissions must include the following event information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Date;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Time;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location; and<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>URL\/hyperlink to more information.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of a survey with no specified end date, the survey will be featured once in the main body of the newsletter. <strong>Submissions without a link will not be accepted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If linking to a Zoom link, a registration or landing page must be created to ensure privacy and information security. Please refer to the Information Security page for recommendations on how to set up a secure Zoom meeting.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Length:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>FGSnews submissions should be three\u2013four lines (approximately 360 characters).
