The program is directed by Dr. Jessica Schroeder Westcott, clinical psychologist and director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/yorku.ca\/health\/yupc\/clinic-services\/\">快播视频 Psychology Clinic<\/a>. Mentors work with autistic students in individual meetings and group events to achieve their personal goals.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The role of a mentor is akin to that of a \"coach.\" A coach does not play the game for you, but helps you practice skills, helps prepare for the game, and cheers you along. They also work with you after the game to talk about what went well and how to practice for the next game.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<h2>Individual Meetings<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Autistic Students are paired with a mentor who is there to provide support based on student goals.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Goals discussed in the meetings can include: organizational skills, managing course work, building social connections, job-related goals, stress management, etc.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Meetings occur on campus or over Zoom.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>Group Events<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Group events provide the opportunity to make social connections.
