Professor\u00a0Amrita Daftary<\/a>\u00a0was invited to deliver a brief intervention at the Multistakeholder Hearings, in preparation of the General Assembly High-level Meetings on the Fight against Tuberculosis, Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response and Universal Health Coverage -General Assembly, 77th session<\/a>\u00a0(min 2:35-38). Congratulations to Ayomide Ajibadefor for being awarded the Firdosi Mehta Service in Global Health Prize<\/a>, which is given to an undergraduate student enrolled in the Specialized Honours or Honours Global Health program in any year who has demonstrated excellent and impactful service to the School of Global, Faculty of Health, 快播视频, and\/or the community in being an agent of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Mary Wiktorowicz<\/a> was successful in the funding of her NFRF project application \u201cGovernance of One Health Challenges: Fostering Collaboration\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global health students, along with students from psychology and kinesiology, participated in work-integrated learning opportunities<\/a> for Black students across six health-sector organizations, where they will support diverse programs, services, research and other organizational priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Tarra Penney<\/a> has launched her International Development Research Centre (IDRC) funded project on mobilizing principles for equitable global health research. The project will use a system thinking approach to research and knowledge mobilization to accelerate efforts at institutionalizing Canadian Association for Global Health Principles for Global Health Research<\/a>. Systems methods and multi-disciplinary lenses are proposed to develop a nuanced understanding of the status quo, engage in collaborative learning, address power imbalances, and embrace adaptation to respond to institutional and individual realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professors Oghenowede Eyawo<\/a> and Ahmad Firas Khalid<\/a> have both been appointed to the Editorial Board of PLOS Global Public Health<\/a>, joining Professor Amrita Daftary<\/a> who is already on the Editorial Board. The Journal addresses deeply entrenched global inequities in public health and makes impactful research visible and accessible to health professionals, policy-makers, and local communities without barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Career Centre<\/a> and School of Global Health<\/a> are hosting Career Conversations: From Global to Local Health<\/em>, on March 23, 2023 from 2pm-3pm<\/strong>, where you can learn where a degree in Global Health can take you and to meet employers and York alumni who utilized their Global Health degree to launch into various career pathways. Also learn how they were able to market their transferable skills and knowledge gained during university and what career insights they've learned throughout their journeys thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor A.M. Viens<\/a> is a recipient of one of the 2023 快播视频 Research Awards. The awards ceremony is taking place on April 12, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ahmad Firas Khalid<\/a> is the recipient of 快播视频\u2019s Student Accessibility Services\u2019 Certificate of Recognition. Dr. Khalid has been recognized for his exemplary contributions to the values of accessibility: collaboration, student-Centricity, care and innovation. The awards ceremony is taking place on April 6, 2023. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor A.M. Viens<\/a> is Chairing an Epidemic Ethics<\/a> virtual seminar on Collective Threats, Collective Interests, and Collective Action<\/em> on Monday, March 13 at 1pm (UK time)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Ahmad Firas Khalid<\/a> is a co-author on a paper about Stories for change: The impact of public narrative on the co-production process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Dr. Tarra Penney<\/a> and Post-Doctoral Fellow Dr. Chloe Clifford Astbury<\/a> were co-authors on a new systematic scoping review examining systems thinking and complexity science methods and the policy process in non-communicable disease prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mathieu Poirier<\/a> and Dr. Steven Hoffman<\/a> (professors in the School of Global Health) and Dr. Susan Rogers Van Katwyk<\/a> (adjunct professor in the School of Global Health) are authors of a new study<\/a> evaluating the impact of national border closures on COVID-19 transmission that has been featured in the Toronto Star<\/a> and CTV News<\/a>, Global News<\/a> and La Presse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual EDI Panel<\/span>: The Global Health Students\u2019 Association hosted a virtual EDI panel<\/a> event to celebrate Black History Month! Join to engage in open and informal conversations with Global Health professionals (and professionals in related fields) about equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), past successes, and future efforts to decolonize Global Health. February 16 from 7:00-8:30pm via Zoom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Health student Essete Tesfaye<\/a> (BA \u201923) is a finalist for the first global cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars at McGill University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting some of the innovative research and pioneering teaching activities of the School of Global Health (SGH), many SGH professors (Amrita Daftary<\/a>, Steven Hoffman<\/a>, Tarra Penney<\/a>, Mathieu Poirier<\/a>, and A.M. Viens<\/a>) were featured in the Faculty of Health Impact Report 2021-22: Special Issue on Research & Teaching<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
