The Faculty of Health has established several signature initiatives designed in partnership with global partners that uphold our values for social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization. These initiatives act on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and further our commitment to contributing to positive change on a local and global level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ASCEND Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Advancing Scholarship and Capacity for Emerging Nursing Doctorates<\/strong> Program<\/strong> is a global partnership scholarship program to help expand the capacity, quality and scope of nursing education programs in both Canada and West Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty members from participating partner institutions (primarily in Ghana) earn their nursing PhD at 快播视频. Then\u2014following their doctoral courses\u2014develop and lead nursing-related research programs in their home country, pursuing sustainable approaches to strengthen both higher education and health systems in West Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership helps nursing faculty have the advanced credentials and experience needed to enhance the education of nurses and midwives graduating from their programs each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grounded Project<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with York\u2019s Las Nubes EcoCampus<\/a>, the Grounded Project is an approach to providing international experiential education to York students, combining travel, globally networked learning, and ethnographic research, to series of documentary films exploring the challenges faced by communities in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project raises awareness about matters related to environmental sustainability, preservation of biodiversity, well-being, and human health in Costa Rica. Students participating in this project work with a team in Costa Rica to create and showcase a collection of documentaries to spotlight the voices of rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We Walk the Earth (2022)<\/a> is the third and most recent instalment in the series of films produced by the Grounded Project. It recounts struggles in Costa Rica for Indigenous rights to land, to self-governance and autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty Bootcamp<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Faculty Bootcamps are an opportunity for York faculty members to travel and gain firsthand experience with international programs through a planned and structured short-term visit. Faculty connect with partners to co-create, design and propose relevant experiential courses for York students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bootcamps are designed to support strategic faculty global engagement initiatives<\/strong> and are funded as part of the international program of the Faculty of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
