Social Work

Education is important in social work because it teaches individuals so many valuable skills. During the first two years students learn about the history of social work and the history of oppression that individuals face. During the upper years, students take courses which allow for them to gain various skills. One example is a communication class that teaches students how to support a client and learn about counselling.

In addition, taking other courses which interest students such as Social Work and Mental Health allows for students to gain an understanding of how to support individuals with mental health concerns. These courses are key to shaping students on which area they want to pursue a career within as they give you hands on experience and key knowledge.
