Sexuality and Women\u2019s Studies<\/strong> invites you to join our <strong>Annual Lecture&nbsp;<\/strong>event featuring a roundtable on the possibilities and limitations of institutionalized Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The roundtable will explore various fields such as higher education, broadcasting, news organizations and politics and the ways in which racialized and other marginalized people with progressive politics are initially welcomed in spaces of power, becoming symbols (or tokens) of progress in achieving \u201cdiversity and inclusion,\u201d only to then be gaslighted, vilified or face reprisals for espousing their views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Lecture will be moderated and hosted by Dr. Bianca Beauchemin and Dr. Nadia research interrogates how affects are machinated against Black and Black Muslim bodies and desires within Northern welfare nations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/gsws\/2022\/02\/28\/gsws-2022-annual-lecture\/\">this presentation<\/a>, Dr. Mendes speaks to the ways the Black maternal is publicly disciplined in the wake of
