
Eric Kennedy, professor in the Disaster and Emergency Management program, was recently quoted in a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) article about wildfires on Canada鈥檚 East Coast. In response to hot and dry conditions, governments have implemented restrictions to things like camping and fishing. These measures have caused pushback in many communities who feel the restrictions put in place mean that governments are overreaching. Kennedy shares his expertise on why it鈥檚 important for people to understand these restrictions, and what governments can do to be more transparent and empathetic about the rules placed on citizens.聽
Eric Kennedy received his PhD from Arizona State University. His research interests include emergency management, forestry, wildfire management, science policy, science & technology studies and COVID.
