tools<\/strong>: To promote academic integrity in this course, students will normally be required to submit their written work through Turnitin (via the course eClass) for a review of textual similarity and the detection of possible plagiarism. In so doing, students will allow their material to be included as source documents in the Turnitin.com reference database, where they will be used only for the purpose of detecting plagiarism. The system will issue a ticket number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requests should be emailed to the main office of the School of Administrative Studies (<a href=\"mailto:apsas@yorku.ca\">apsas@yorku.ca<\/a>) no later than seven (7) days from date of the final exam (or from the last date to submit term course work, for any request to defer a component other than the final exam).&nbsp; Requests should include your&nbsp;<strong>ticket number<\/strong>&nbsp;as issued by the online registration system, a completed&nbsp;<strong>Deferred Standing Agreement form<\/strong>&nbsp;(DSA) and relevant supporting documentation. No individualized communication will be sent by the School to students (no letter or e-mails).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-12 kt-pane201889_352774-2c\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><button class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-header kt-acccordion-button-label-show\" type=\"button\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title-wrap\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title\"><strong>Exam Identification<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-icon-trigger\"><\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel kt-accordion-panel-hidden\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p>Photo identification with YU-Card <strong>must be presented<\/strong> at exams to write the exam (students without YU-Card would not be allowed to write the exam). <strong>As of Fall 2025, YU-cards (either physical or mobile versions) will be the ONLY official student identification accepted for exams.&nbsp;<\/strong> Passports, driver's license and other forms of identification are NO LONGER accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mobile devices are <strong>not<\/strong> permitted during a test except for the purposes of mobile YU-card identification validation. <strong>Earbuds\/earphones\/smartwatches\/cameras\/smart glasses are prohibited in the exam room.<\/strong>&nbsp; When using a mobile YU-card identification validation, your device must be on airplane-mode and you must adhere to the instructions provided. After your mobile YU-card identification is validated, your phone <strong>must be shut down<\/strong> and returned to the corner of your desk, face down (or put away, if permitted by the instructor\/invigilator).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-13 kt-pane201889_c2fd7d-d9\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><button class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-header kt-acccordion-button-label-show\" type=\"button\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title-wrap\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title\"><strong>Academic Consideration of Missed Coursework<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-icon-trigger\"><\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel kt-accordion-panel-hidden\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p>Coursework <strong>worth 20% or less <\/strong>of the final course grade <strong>might<\/strong> fall under the provisions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/secretariat\/policies\/policies\/academic-consideration-for-missed-course-work-policy-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Policy on Academic Consideration for Missed Course Work<\/em><\/a>, whereby students may self-declare <strong>no more than<\/strong> two (2) 7-day consideration periods in a 12-week term [one (1) 7-day consideration period per six-week term] for missed assessments.]&nbsp; Students are expected to be familiar with the policy, eligibility criteria, timelines and responsibilities as set in the policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This policy applies to course assessments worth 20% or less of your overall course grade and does not apply to final exams held during the final examination period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional criteria<\/strong> regarding eligible assessments are described in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/secretariat\/policies\/policies\/academic-consideration-for-missed-course-work-policy-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Policy on Academic Consideration for Missed Course Work<\/em><\/a><\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lthelp.yorku.ca\/accessing-eclass\/absence-reporting-students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eClass reporting help page<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where <strong>built-in <\/strong>accommodations are set for the assessment, additional considerations are <strong>not required<\/strong> under the policy.&nbsp; Built in accommodations can include dropping the lower grade from a set of assessments (such as when the 5 top marks of 7 quizzes count towards the final grade), providing a flexible submission timeline (such as when assignments are open for a long duration), or other built-in accommodations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students are responsible to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check Policy for eligibility criteria (sections 5.1 a,c,d) and timelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promptly <strong>submit<\/strong> their self-declaration(s) for academic consideration through eClass.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Follow up<\/strong> regarding accommodation with their professor <strong>no later than two (2)<\/strong> business days after the end of the consideration period regarding any accommodation for missed work.
