If you do not have a 4U math course from high school, you can easily complete such a course through one of the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A fully online course is available through Ontario\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Independent Learning Centre<\/a> for a fee of only $40 for Ontario students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>快播视频's Faculty of Liberal Arts &amp; Professional Studies (LA&amp;PS) offers a fully online, non-credit Pass\/Fail course once a year during the Summer term for only $40. This course does not affect your Grade Point Average (GPA) and is suitable for those who did not take math beyond the 3U level as it does not require any additional prerequisite courses. For more information please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/students\/future\/non-degree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mathematics for LA&amp;PS (12U Math Equivalency Course)<\/a> website. This Summer course is a great fast-track option, enabling students with conditional admission to the BPA program to begin in the Fall term. It is also available to current York students who wish to transfer into the BPA program but do not have the math prerequisite.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students may also choose to complete Advanced Functions (MTH196) or Statistics 1 (MTH197) courses at Seneca College to satisfy the math admission requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> Our Minor in Public Administration and Certificate programs do not require a 4U mathematics course for admission.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I would like to enrol in a PPAS course but the system will not let me. How should I proceed?<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There may be various reasons why the system may not allow you to add a course such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reserved Seating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prerequisites or Co-requisites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outstanding Fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrolled in too many credits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The following actions are recommended:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Place yourself on our waitlist for course(s) that you are interested in. Use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/sppa\/undergrad\/waitlist-request-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Waitlist Request Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continue to try to enrol into courses that are full multiple times a day in the hopes that someone will drop and a spot will become available for them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact the SPPA Office for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I do a co-op as part of my degree?<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A paid co-op program is available for BPA majors in collaboration with the Faculty of LA&amp;PS. The eligibility criteria include min. 6.0 GPA and having completed AP\/PPAS 3190 6.0 and AP\/PPAS 3300 6.0. More information about the co-op program and upcoming information sessions can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/co-op\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CO-op website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ontario Public Service (OPS) co-op and summer employment opportunities are typically open for applications during the Winter term (January-March application window). SPPA organizes preparatory workshops for students in late January or early February and these are publicized in the SPPA Biweekly Newsletter available via email distribution and the SPPA website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another opportunity for practical professional experience is our upper level 4th year seminar course, AP\/PPAS 4995 6.00 Practicum in Public Administration. Co-op and practicum placements are limited and a strong GPA and personal interview will likely be required to assess eligibility. Interested students should contact PPASA at 168 Founders College or&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:ppasa@yorku.ca\">ppasa@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Am I able to submit assignments after hours or on weekends? If so, where?<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Should the office be closed, please note that we have an after-hours assignment drop-box that is located to the right and slightly down the hall from our main office window, at 119 McLaughlin College. The drop box is clearly marked and located in a door slot. You can access it both during the evening and on weekends. This drop-box is checked at the beginning of every business day and course work is date stamped on the date of receipt. All items are then promptly placed in the appropriate faculty or teaching assistant's mailbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can I check which degree requirements I have completed and which ones are still outstanding?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/myacademicrecord.students.yorku.ca\/degree-progress-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Degree Progress Report (DPR)<\/a> to check. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it is showing as unavailable please note that those students who have not declared a stream in the BPA Specialized Honours won't be able to see anything. While you have until the end of your second year to declare a stream, streams can be changed at any time and so it is recommended that you declare a stream to have access to the DPR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DPR is not available for those who pursue a major\/minor combination. Please note that credits cannot be double counted for a major and minor. The DPR is not available for the Certificate programs (stand-alone or sub-program with a degree). Only 12 credits have to be unique to our Professional Certificates, the remaining 12 credits can overlap with your BA major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To check on your degree progress, course selection and academic standing, please consider meeting with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/advising\/cluster-8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic Advisor<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where do I go to file an academic and\/or financial petition?<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Students must meet with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/laps\/advising\/cluster-8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">academic advisor<\/a> before submitting an academic petition or appeal.
