All these activities are done to allow students in the Faculty of Liberal Arts &amp; Professional Studies the best possible student experience and to strive to promote student engagement across the Faculty and University, but particularly in governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through its membership on the Faculty's committees, SCOLAPS enables students to voice their unique opinions on various matters affecting the Faculty. This includes providing student input on the Tenure and Promotion process, petition decisions, curriculum implementation and many other important subjects. Most notably, SCOLAPS has played an important role in representing the Faculty's students during the formulation process of the Liberal Arts &amp; Professional Studies strategic plan. Stepping into this role, I am inspired by the opportunity to lead a council that represents over 26,000 students in the largest faculty at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCOLAPS exists to advocate, represent, and support students at every level, whether in departments, across the Faculty of Liberal Arts &amp; Professional Studies, or at the Senate. What excites me most about this year is the chance to build on the council\u2019s history while also pushing forward new priorities that matter to students today: community, advocacy, and opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My vision as Chair is to ensure that SCOLAPS is not just a council that makes decisions behind the scenes, but a community where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered. This means hosting events that bring us together, strengthening collaboration with colleges, clubs, and departments, and making sure that students\u2019 voices are represented where key decisions are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many ways to get involved, and one of the most impactful is by becoming a general council member. It\u2019s an opportunity to work alongside peers, contribute ideas, and help shape the student experience in our faculty and across York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more and stay connected, I encourage
