Performer, choreographer, and dance educator <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Nona Houshiarkhah began her dance journey at the age of thirteen, first training in ballet before expanding into contemporary and other styles at Alternative Studio. Since the age of sixteen, she has trained, performed, and taught with the studio, where she continues to share her passion for movement with others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nona has performed in various dance and theatrical productions both as a dancer and actor in her hometown, Tehran and recently in Toronto. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nona first pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering before fully committing to her artistic path. She is currently studying Dance at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ in Toronto, where she deepens her exploration of both performance and pedagogy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Nona, dance represents freedom and expression. Growing up in Iran, she along with other women were very restricted by the government of Iran, but dance became a place where she could move without fear and connect with her emotions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nona values the power of movement to reveal beauty, humanity, and emotions that are suppressed, and she continues to develop her artistic voice through both performance and teaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
