快播视频 posted strong results in global rankings in this year鈥檚 Times High Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, competing against almost 1,500 universities across 11 subjects worldwide. York鈥檚 Osgoode Hall Law School鈥檚 held firmly with a 65th in the world spot, while rankings for programs in Medical & Health and Engineering & Technology subjects, a sign of the University鈥檚 growing momentum in these areas, also increased.

York鈥檚 strength in Medical & Health subjects is bolstered with a new School of Medicine set to open in 2028. The medical school is being designed to strengthen community health through unique curriculum and physician training and will help meet Ontario鈥檚 urgent healthcare needs.

"Our upward trajectory in global standings reflects York鈥檚 growing expertise in health and medicine. By strengthening our research environment and innovative academic programming, we are building a robust foundation for our new School of Medicine within 快播视频鈥檚 Faculty of Health, where our researchers and learners are equipped to advance health equity for the diverse communities we serve," says School of Medicine Dean David Peters, Faculty of Health.

In addition, Psychology was ranked in the top 150 worldwide and in the top 10 nationally, along with Business & Economics and Law. Psychology and Engineering & Technology rose across all five pillars 鈥 teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.

鈥淭his ranking reflects the strength of Osgoode鈥檚 academic community and the impact of the teaching, research, and scholarship taking place at the law school,鈥 says Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School Trevor Farrow. 鈥淚t鈥檚 encouraging to see that work recognized globally.鈥

The subject ranking results follow on a year of positive results, including the , where the University scored 15 subject areas in the top 10 and is ranked sixth in Canada and second in Ontario for the Arts and Humanities, and in the top 100 worldwide for English language and literature. The University also went up three spots from seventh to fourth in the country for Geography, while York ranked eighth in Canada and fourth in Ontario for Social Sciences and Management. The University also moved up 29 spots globally in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.

In the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings results, York earned a top 40 spot demonstrating continued leadership in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  And in the , York placed in the top five as one of the best comprehensive universities in Canada, a spot it鈥檚 held for several consecutive years. It also ranked fourth for reputation, third for student scholarships and bursaries, and fourth for social sciences and humanities grants.

For more than a decade, York has been named as one of Canada鈥檚 Greenest Employers and for the second consecutive year it also made the list for Canada鈥檚 Best Diversity Employers.

The $25 million commitment will help fund the physical infrastructure and development of the School of Medicine, which will be built in the Vaughan Healthcare Centre Precinct, alongside the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.

GEORGINA, Nov. 5, 2025 鈥 快播视频 and the Town of Georgina signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today to formalize their long-standing collaboration in key areas of mutual interest.  

The five-year MOU outlines areas where Georgina and York can collaborate to benefit both the community and the University and further develop their shared interest in primary care, local economic development, entrepreneurship initiatives and knowledge mobilization.

One of the goals is to expand the current relationship which began even before the opening of YSpace Georgina Business Incubator/Accelerator Hub in 2022, York鈥檚 pan-university entrepreneurship and innovation hub. YSpace offers support for local businesses, including opportunities for learning and collaboration.

New medical school will be the first in Canada with a core mandate to train family doctors

TORONTO, July 29, 2025 鈥 快播视频 unveiled its new sign today at the site of its future School of Medicine building next to Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital in the Vaughan Healthcare Centre Precinct.

The University also signed a new partnership agreement with the (OCI) toward fostering health-care innovation through collaboration with partners within the .

York鈥檚 new School of Medicine, the first Canadian medical school to focus on community-based primary health-care education, training Ontario鈥檚 future primary-care doctors, will welcome its first cohort in September 2028. The school will support the growing and urgent primary health-care needs of underserved communities, including in northern Toronto, York Region, Simcoe County, the District of Muskoka and surrounding rural areas.

鈥淭oday was an exciting reminder of how far York has travelled, with the support of our partners at the City of Vaughan, Mackenzie Health and the Province of Ontario, on the path to opening the School of Medicine in 2028. The government of Ontario has committed $9 million in start-up funding for York鈥檚 new School of Medicine as part of its 2024 budget. It also pledged its support for 80 undergraduate spots and 102 postgraduate spots in the first year, going up to 240 undergraduate seats and 293 postgraduate seats on an annual basis once operating at full capacity.

This is part of the province鈥檚 plan to roll out the largest expansion of medical education in over 10 years as it continues to build a stronger, more resilient health-care system. The 快播视频 School of Medicine builds on the Ontario government鈥檚 investment in the Vaughan Healthcare Centre Precinct through Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and a new long-term care home beside the hospital, delivering 256 net-new care beds to serve the aging population.
