It is with great sadness that the 快播视频 community learned of the passing of Professor Emeritus Alain Baudot, a founding member not only of the French Studies Department at York, but of Glendon College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alain was one of the very first professors at Glendon. Among his many contributions to the University were the creation of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies and the groundwork for the development of a PhD program in Francophone Studies. He also demonstrated outstanding leadership as Graduate Program Director for the Master in French Studies and the Master in Translation programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his role as Founding Director of \u00c9ditions du GREF (Groupe de recherche en \u00e9tudes francophones<\/em>), the French-language publisher of scholarly and creative works at Glendon, he supported generations of authors. With his passing, Franco-Ontarian publishing circles also lose one of their longstanding pillars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alain himself wrote more than 200 articles and several books on subjects ranging from early music, to Belgian literature, to Quebec song and opera, for which he received numerous awards. Notably, he was made a member of the Royal Society of Canada, an Officer of the Order of the Crown (Belgium), Officer of the Order of Academic Palms (France), winner of the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Toronto prize (sponsored by the Del Duca Foundation, Paris), and winner of the Association of Canadian University and French Professors prize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He was also a talented musician and musical director who was named to the Advisory Board of the North York Symphony Orchestra, and performed as a guest pianist for a long and varied list of concerts organized by the Toronto Home Music Club and the Canadian Association of Amateur Musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On behalf of the 快播视频 community, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Alain\u2019s family and loved ones, and to the generations of students, colleagues, and authors he supported and inspired over his long and illustrious career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sincerely,<\/p>\n\n\n\n C'est avec une grande tristesse que la communaut\u00e9 de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 York a appris le d\u00e9c\u00e8s du professeur \u00e9m\u00e9rite Alain Baudot, non seulement membre fondateur du D\u00e9partement d\u2019\u00e9tudes fran\u00e7aises de York, mais \u00e9galement du Coll\u00e8ge universitaire Glendon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Alain a \u00e9t\u00e9 l'un des tout premiers professeurs \u00e0 Glendon. Il a \u00e9galement fait preuve d'un leadership exceptionnel en tant que directeur des programmes d'\u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieures pour la ma\u00eetrise en \u00e9tudes fran\u00e7aises et la maitrise en traduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dans son r\u00f4le de directeur fondateur des \u00c9ditions du GREF (Groupe de recherche en \u00e9tudes francophones), l\u2019\u00e9diteur d\u2019\u0153uvres savantes et artistiques, il a soutenu des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d'auteurs. \u00c0 ce titre, les milieux de l'\u00e9dition franco-ontariens perdent un de leurs piliers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Alain lui-m\u00eame a \u00e9crit plus de 200 articles et plusieurs livres sur des sujets allant de la musique ancienne \u00e0 la litt\u00e9rature belge en passant par la chanson et l'op\u00e9ra qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois, pour lesquels il a re\u00e7u de nombreux prix.
