It is with great sadness that the 快播视频 community has learned of the recent passing of Dr. Robert Everett, a distinguished and long-serving Senior Assistant Secretary of the University. He is remembered fondly by his colleagues for his subtle and authentic leadership in \u2014 and deep knowledge of \u2014 governance matters, his unwavering collegiality, his sharp wit, and his sincere love of the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon his retirement in 2018, Bob\u2019s contributions to York over the course of his 30-year career were formally recognized by the York community through the renaming of the Senate Chamber in his honour and the establishment of the Robert Everett Exceptional Leadership in Student Governance Award. The award is presented each year to students who have made a valuable and significant contribution to the governance of the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many in our community will remember Bob for his service to the Senate and Board of Governors, some may not be aware that he made significant contributions to scholarship and public policy through the publication of dozens of works \u2014 including reports for a House of Commons standing committee, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, and a royal commission \u2014 as well as presentations and media appearances. He also taught courses on media and politics, environmental journalism, and federal dynamics at York beginning in 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of the entire York community, I want to offer my sincerest condolences to Bob\u2019s family and loved ones, and to the multitudes of staff, students, faculty, course instructors, alumni, Board and Senate members, and partners whose lives he touched over the course of his extraordinary career at York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La communaut\u00e9 de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 York a appris avec une immense tristesse la disparition r\u00e9cente de Robert Everett, qui s\u2019est longtemps illustr\u00e9 en tant que secr\u00e9taire adjoint principal de l\u2019Universit\u00e9. Ses coll\u00e8gues gardent un excellent souvenir de son leadership subtil et authentique en mati\u00e8re de gouvernance \u2014 et de ses connaissances approfondies sur ces questions \u2014, de son esprit de camaraderie, de sa vive intelligence et de son amour sinc\u00e8re pour l\u2019Universit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors du d\u00e9part \u00e0 la retraite de Bob en 2018, la communaut\u00e9 de York a reconnu formellement les multiples contributions de ses 30 ann\u00e9es de carri\u00e8re en renommant la salle du S\u00e9nat en son honneur et en cr\u00e9ant le prix Robert Everett Exceptional Leadership in Student Governance. Ce prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e aux \u00e9tudiants et \u00e9tudiantes ayant eu une incidence significative sur la gouvernance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si plusieurs membres de notre communaut\u00e9 se souviennent des services de Bob au sein du S\u00e9nat et du Conseil des gouverneurs, d\u2019autres ne connaissent peut-\u00eatre pas ses contributions importantes \u00e0 la recherche et \u00e0 la politique publique avec la publication de dizaines de travaux \u2014 notamment des rapports pour un comit\u00e9 permanent de la Chambre des communes, pour le Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des t\u00e9l\u00e9communications canadiennes et pour une commission royale \u2014 en plus de diverses pr\u00e9sentations et interventions m\u00e9diatiques. \u00c0 partir de 1985, il a \u00e9galement donn\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 York des cours sur les m\u00e9dias et la politique, sur le journalisme environnemental et sur la dynamique f\u00e9d\u00e9rale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Au nom de toute la communaut\u00e9 de York, je tiens \u00e0 offrir mes sinc\u00e8res condol\u00e9ances \u00e0 la famille et aux proches de Bob, ainsi qu\u2019aux nombreux membres du personnel, de la population \u00e9tudiante, du corps professoral, du corps enseignant, de la communaut\u00e9 des dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s et aux membres du conseil d\u2019administration et du S\u00e9nat et autres partenaires sur lesquels il a eu un impact au cours de sa carri\u00e8re remarquable \u00e0 York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
