Dr. Tamanisha J. John is an Assistant Professor of Black Politics in the Department of Politics.

Prior to joining �첥��Ƶ's Department of Politics in July 2023, she was an Assistant Professor of International Political Economy at Clark Atlanta University's Mack H. Jones Department of Political Science. Dr. John studies Caribbean development, sovereignty and politics, as well as Canadian foreign policy, economic imperialism, financial exclusion, and corporate power. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Class, Race and Corporate Power, the Review of Radical Political Economy, and Social and Economic Studies.

Tamanisha received her Ph.D. in 2021 from Florida International University, and her dissertation Canadian Banks and Imperialism in the English-Speaking Caribbean, won the 2022 Best Dissertation Award from the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA).

Sylvia Bawa

Dr Sylvia Bawa is a global sociologist and tenured Associate Professor of Sociology at �첥��Ƶ in Canada with expertise in human rights, development, gender and globalization. With immense experience working with international and local organizations and groups on development, social justice and human rights issues, her expertise in these areas have been recognized through numerous research awards. With over 15 years of experience in conducting exceptional qualitative research on the aforementioned areas, she has led and currently co-leads international collaborative research projects on human rights, truth and reconciliation and gender and development. Her publications appear in high impact journals such as Third World Quarterly, African Identities, Qualitative Research Report, Development in Practice, Canadian Journal of African Studies as well chapters in the International Human Rights of Women

She currently a doctoral student at the School of International Development and Globalization Studies the University of Ottawa.

Tka C. Pinnock is a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics at �첥��Ƶ. Her research interests lie at the intersection of feminist political economy, political ecology, globalization and critical development studies where she explores the everyday politics of life work. Her dissertation project explores the constructions of indigeneity among African-descended marginalized workers as a political-economic response to the conditions of economic development, using the tourism sector in Jamaica as a case study. Pinnock’s community work also gives rise to an interest in diaspora studies and community-based research.

Tii Nchofoung holds a Master’s of Science in Mathematical Economics from the University of Dschang, Cameroon. He also holds a Diploma in Administration from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), Cameroon. He works as an Administrator with the Ministry of Trade, Cameroon, at the same time, a doctoral candidate in Economics at the University of Dschang. He is also a visiting scholar with the Association of Promoting Women in Research and Development (ASPROWADA), Cameroon. His research works have been published in international peer-reviewed journals among others: Resources Policy, International Economic Journal, Foreign Trade Review, Telecommunications Policy, and International Economics, just to name a few. His research interests are in the fields of international economics, inclusive and sustainable development.

Vivien Bediako

Vivien is a third-year doctoral student in Human Geography at �첥��Ƶ. Her past research focused on biodiversity conservation and wildlife management issues in relation to ecotourism development and has had considerable fieldwork experience in the African nations of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Kenya. Vivien is interested in development that is characterized by sound environmental practices and with a gender focus especially those that take special recognition of marginalized groups. Currently, her specific area of academic interest is linking the tourism and migration nexus. Her other research interests span across migration, trans nationalism, gender and development, and African development studies.
