John is an Assistant Professor of Black Politics in the Department of Politics.

Prior to joining 快播视频's Department of Politics in July 2023, she was an Assistant Professor of International Political Economy at Clark Atlanta University's Mack H. Jones Department of Political Science. Dr. John studies Caribbean development, sovereignty and politics, as well as Canadian foreign policy, economic imperialism, financial exclusion, and corporate power. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Class, Race and Corporate Power, the Review of Radical Political Economy, and Social and Economic Studies.

Tamanisha received her Ph.D. in 2021 from Florida International University, and her dissertation Canadian Banks and Imperialism in the English-Speaking Caribbean, won the 2022 Best Dissertation Award from the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA).

Her past research focused on biodiversity conservation and wildlife management issues in relation to ecotourism development and has had considerable fieldwork experience in the African nations of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Kenya. Vivien is interested in development that is characterized by sound environmental practices and with a gender focus especially those that take special recognition of marginalized groups. Currently, her specific area of academic interest is linking the tourism and migration nexus. Her other research interests span across migration, trans nationalism, gender and development, and African development studies.
