{"id":32917,"date":"2013-02-01T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-01T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/researchdev\/2013\/02\/01\/osgoode-and-lassonde-celebrate-research-2\/"},"modified":"2025-01-29T14:57:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T19:57:26","slug":"osgoode-and-lassonde-celebrate-research-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/2013\/02\/01\/osgoode-and-lassonde-celebrate-research-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Osgoode and Lassonde celebrate research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In celebration of the many areas of common ground between law and engineering, Osgoode Hall Law School, the Lassonde School of Engineering and the Office of the Vice-President Research &amp; Innovation have joined together to host a Research Celebration to discuss the intersection of law and engineering research.<\/p>\n<p>Osgoode and Lassonde will celebrate the research achievements and interests of their Faculties, Feb. 4, starting at 2:15pm at 1014 Osgoode Hall Law School, Keele campus.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-179432\" style=\"margin: 8px\" alt=\"RobertHache\" src=\"http:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/files\/2013\/01\/RobertHache1.jpg\" width=\"159\" height=\"240\" \/>\u201cThis research celebration provides a forum for members of the York community to learn more about the exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration among these Faculties,\u201d said <strong>Robert Hach\u00e9 (right),<\/strong> vice-president research &amp; innovation. \u201cAll members of the York community are welcome to attend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the welcome and opening remarks by Hach\u00e9, Dean Janusz Kozinski of <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-180433 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 8px\" alt=\"JanuszKozinski\" src=\"http:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/files\/2013\/01\/JanuszKozinski.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"202\" \/>the Lassonde School of Engineering and Dean Lorne Sossin of Osgoode Hall Law School, a panel discussion moderated by Associate Dean of Research Poonam Puri will take place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Janusz Kozinski<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe convergence of engineering and law is very exciting area of interdisciplinary collaboration across a whole range of topics, and we hope this will be the first of many joint events as Osgoode and Lassonde work closely together in the months and years ahead,\u201d said Kozinski.<\/p>\n<p>\"Osgoode is delighted to be moving forward with the Lassonde School of Engineering on cross-Faculty <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-180067\" style=\"margin: 8px\" alt=\"sossinlarge\" src=\"http:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/files\/2013\/01\/sossinlarge.jpg\" width=\"161\" height=\"222\" \/>collaborations that will break new ground in the fields of law and engineering,\" said Sossin. \"This is the first of what we know will be many celebrations of our successful joint research efforts.\"<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><strong>Lorne Sossin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From 2:20 to 3:30pm, there will be a panel discussion highlighting the theme, \u201cA Conversation Between Law and Engineering\u201d. The paen will consist of the following:\u00a0Dean Sossin; Professor Giuseppina D\u2019Agostino of Osgoode Hall Law School and founder &amp; director ofIP Osgoode; Professor\u00a0 Michael Daly of the Department of Earth &amp; Space Science &amp; Engineering; Professor Shin Imai of Osgoode Hall Law School; Professor Michael Jenkin of the Department of Computer Science &amp; Engineering; and Professor Regina Lee of the Department of Earth &amp; Space Science &amp; Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The panellists will discuss a diverse range of topics, including space law, intellectual property, expert testimony, professional self-regulation, ethics, mining, corporate social responsibility, corporate accountability and more. There will also be research on display in Gowlings Hall at Osgoode Hall Law School and a reception featuring opportunities for networking.
