The event was organized by mathematics Professor Jianhong Wu from the Faculty of Science, computer science Professor Nick Cercone from the Lassonde School of Engineering and Professor Xu Zenben from Xian Jiaotong University.<\/p>\n<p>Wu was the first plenary speaker and gave a lecture on 10 years of dedicated work in his Laboratory for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LIAM). LIAM\u2019s big data research models the central nervous system\u2019s plasticity in terms of neural signal transmission delay and explores its applications for parallel computing and pattern recognitions of complex data.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Wu, many other 快播视频 researchers were invited to the conference, demonstrating York\u2019s multidisciplinary big data research capacity. Invited guests included Professors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jane Heffernan<\/strong> (Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science) spoke about multi-scale models of disease modeling,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jimmy Huang<\/strong> (School of Information Technology, Liberal Arts and Professional Studies) spoke about modeling and analyzing big text data,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paul Ritvo<\/strong> (School of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health) spoke about data mining in health-related interventions, and<\/li>\n<li><strong>Steven Wang<\/strong> (Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science) spoke about dynamical clustering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yawen Xu, a postdoctoral fellow working in a NSERC CRD project supervised by Professor Aijun An (Computer Science) and Wu was also in attendance and discussed her research on multiple-platform data integration while York's industrial partner Manifold Data Mining represented by its President and CEO Mei Zhen, shared the company's experience in data mining applications to consumer behavior analysis.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_226339\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-226339\" class=\"size-full wp-image-226339\" src=\"http:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/files\/2016\/01\/big-data.jpg\" alt=\"The conference participants\" width=\"550\" height=\"223\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-226339\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The conference participants<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The conference was also the platform for the launch of the first <a href=\"http:\/\/aimsciences.org\/journals\/home.jsp?journalID=27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Journal of Big Data and Information Analytics<\/a>.
