{"id":613,"date":"2021-01-12T11:53:56","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T16:53:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/chemistry\/?page_id=613"},"modified":"2021-03-08T14:28:52","modified_gmt":"2021-03-08T19:28:52","slug":"grading","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/chemistry\/undergraduate\/current-students\/course-selection\/grading\/","title":{"rendered":"Grading"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Chemistry follows the Faculty of Science approved correlation of percentage grades&nbsp;to letter grades, as follows:\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For the purposes of assigning letter grades in a course, the letter in the 1st&nbsp;column corresponding to the % range in the 4th column is used. Thus, a grade&nbsp;of 76% is a B+.\u200b<\/li><li>The cumulative&nbsp;grade-point average (GPA) is the credit-weighted average of&nbsp;the grade points corresponding to the letter grades that you earn.\u200b<\/li><li>For the purposes of calculating a GPA over many courses, the value in the&nbsp;2nd column corresponding to the letter in the 1st column is multiplied by the&nbsp;number of credits. Thus, a B+ in a 6-credit course contributes 42 points. This&nbsp;product is summed for all courses and the sum is divided by the total number&nbsp;of credits.\u200b<\/li><li>For the purposes of evaluating an average letter grade, the letter from the&nbsp;1st column corresponding to the range in the 3rd column in which the GPA&nbsp;lies is used.
