Studies involve the synthesis of complex natural products that display important biological activity and may serve as leads to therapeutic agents. These synthetic efforts allow access to important natural products that are often found in low abundance and facilitate further biological evaluation. In addition, synthetic intermediates that are structurally related to the natural product, but which may not be otherwise accessible can also be evaluated for biological activity.
