These courses are also intended to enhance your critical skills in reading, writing, and thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The requirements are occasionally modified. Current requirements are for those beginning degrees in Fall\/Winter 2012-2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\">BA and iBA programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum of 24 credits chosen from the areas of Humanities, Modes of Reasoning, Natural Science, and Social Science as it follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a <strong>minimum of 6 credits<\/strong> but <strong>no more than 9 credits<\/strong> of the required 24 must be from <strong>Humanities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a <strong>minimum of 6 credits<\/strong> but <strong>no more than 9 credits<\/strong> of the required 24 must be from <strong>Natural Science<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a <strong>minimum of 6 credits<\/strong> but <strong>no more than 9 credits<\/strong> of the required 24 must be from <strong>Social Science<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendars.students.yorku.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Undergraduate Academic Calendar<\/a> for details on this requirement according to your program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\">BSc, iBSc, and BSc Tech programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>27 credits in total as it follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Non-Science:<\/strong> 12 credits from <strong>at least 2&nbsp;different non-science disciplines<\/strong> chosen from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/my-degree\/program-requirements\/choosing-non-science-general-education-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved list of courses<\/a>. No more than 9 credits in one subject area will be counted towards the general education requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mathematics:<\/strong> 6&nbsp;credits in mathematics at the 1000 level (excluding SC\/MATH 1510 6.00, SC\/MATH 1515 3.00, SC\/MATH 1520 3.00).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Computer Science:<\/strong> 3&nbsp;credits in computer science at the 1000 level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foundational Science:<\/strong> 6&nbsp;credits from courses with laboratories at the 1000 level in any of the following areas: biology, chemistry, and physics (excluding SC\/BIOL 1500 3.00, SC\/CHEM 1500 4.00, SC\/PHYS 1510 3.00).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your major program requirements specify which mathematics, computer science, and foundational science courses are required.
