He obtained his PhD in 1988 from McMaster University studying the synthesis and NMR spectroscopy of paracyclophanes based on adenine. He has more than 40 years of experience operating NMR spectrometers and training chemists in the operation and interpretation of NMR spectra, including 13 years of experience teaching CHEM 4024\/5024 (Structure Elucidation by NMR Spectroscopy).
