{"id":34506,"date":"2024-08-19T11:58:20","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T15:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/?p=34506"},"modified":"2024-08-19T11:59:08","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T15:59:08","slug":"york-professor-hosts-recipient-of-prestigious-marie-curie-postdoctoral-global-fellowship-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/2024\/08\/19\/york-professor-hosts-recipient-of-prestigious-marie-curie-postdoctoral-global-fellowship-2\/","title":{"rendered":"York professor hosts recipient of prestigious Marie-Curie Postdoctoral Global Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">快播视频 Biology Professor <strong>Kohitij Kar<\/strong>, in the Faculty of Science, will host the recipient of a prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/marie-sklodowska-curie-actions.ec.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Actions<\/a> (MSCA) Postdoctoral Global Fellowship in his lab for two years starting this November to advance cutting-edge work in artificial intelligence and visual tracking.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipient, <a href=\"https:\/\/matteo-dunnhofer.github.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matteo Dunnhofer<\/a> from the University of Udine in Italy, received a fellowship valued at C$340,000 from MSCA, which empowers researchers wishing to carry out their work abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dunnhofer is an award-winning researcher at the Machine Learning &amp; Perception Lab in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, &amp; Physics of the University of Udine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His fellowship project, titled \u201cTowards primate-like artificial neural networks for visual object tracking,\u201d will focus on studying algorithms at the intersection of artificial intelligence and neuroscience in the field of visual object tracking. Visual object tracking is the use of algorithms in continuously recognizing objects, such as people and vehicles, and has applications in fields like autonomous driving, robotics and medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2022\/10\/Kohitij-Kar-pic-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Kohitij Kar\" class=\"wp-image-21133\" style=\"width:204px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2022\/10\/Kohitij-Kar-pic-edited.jpg 470w, https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2022\/10\/Kohitij-Kar-pic-edited-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/science\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2022\/10\/Kohitij-Kar-pic-edited-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kohitij Kar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The project will draw on Kar\u2019s expertise as a Canada Research Chair in Visual Neuroscience and his experience leading the Visual Intelligence &amp; Technological Advances Laboratory, which is a core part of the Vision: Science to Technology Application Program, the Centre for Integrative &amp; Applied Neuroscience, and the Centre for Vision Research at 快播视频. His research lies at the intersection of neurophysiological investigations of visual intelligence in non-human primates and artificial intelligence systems.
