Quick鈥檚 residency program, 鈥淚 Can鈥檛 Come to the Party If I Won鈥檛 Fall in Love,鈥 leads up to EUC鈥檚 Eco Arts Festival in March and is part of Professor Andil Gosine's Nature鈥檚 Wild exhibition series, which features a student exhibition.

The Artist-in-Residence program at EUC aims to foster dialogue between the arts, social change and environmental justice.

The residency will launch with an exhibition opening and artist talk on Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at York鈥檚 and Zig Zag Lounge. Quick鈥檚 work invites audiences to explore the emotional undercurrents of celebrations 鈥 spaces where vulnerability and connection emerge amidst the revelry.

鈥淭he party serves as a transformative moment catalyzing a profound exploration of our individual experiences and emotional landscapes,鈥 says Quick. 鈥淲hile the celebration unfolds around us, the atmosphere becomes charged with unspoken truths and vulnerabilities that resonate deeply within us.鈥

From 3 to 4 p.m., participants can witness Quick鈥檚 Psychic Watercolour Performance, an intimate and interactive session where she creates personalized watercolour paintings for up to 10 attendees, capturing their 鈥渇ortunes鈥 through psychic expression.

On Jan. 22 from 2 to 3 p.m., Quick will host an Intuitive Painting Workshop, offering students and participants the chance to explore gestural watercolour techniques. Through hands-on activities, attendees will create pieces that channel their desires and dreams, uncovering new ways to connect with their inner narratives.

Both the performance and workshop are RSVP-only due to limited spots, ensuring an intimate and impactful experience for all participants. To reserve a spot, contact hatemh@yorku.ca.
