The latest\u00a0edition of\u00a0The Economist<\/em> magazine ranks ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ's Schulich School of Business among the top 10 MBA programs in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ's Schulich School of Business was considered as one of the world's leading MBA schools,\u201d said York President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh\u00a0 Shoukri. \u201cThis ranking clearly demonstrates the calibre of education that our university has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Economist<\/em> ranked Schulich 10th overall, ahead of the Columbia Business School, the MIT Sloan School of Business Management and the London Business School, and behind the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Harvard Business School. Schulich ranked seventh among North American schools, fourth in the world among non-American schools and first among Canadian schools.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cWe're elated to be ranked among the very best business schools in the world by one of the world's most respected business publications,\u201d said Schulich Dean Dezs\u00f6 Horv\u00e1th (left)<\/strong>. \u201cOver the past five years, we've made tremendous strides in improving the quality of our curriculum and our programs, in ensuring that our faculty and students are absolutely world-class, and in expanding Schulich's global footprint. I believe these have all been contributing factors in our steady rise in The Economist<\/em> ranking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several other Canadian schools made the magazine's top 100 ranking, including: the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, which\u00a0ranked 79th; the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, which was ranked 82nd; and the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, which placed 96th.<\/p>\n

Friday's ranking was featured in an article in the Sept.18 to 24 issue of The Economist<\/em>, read weekly by more than four million people worldwide. The magazine lists the top 10 schools in a chart titled \"Best in the business\". The ranking will also be published in a special MBA edition of The Economist<\/em> titled \"Which MBA?\", distributed internationally as a separate magazine on Sept. 18.<\/p>\n

The Economist<\/em> survey is the only major global ranking that rates business schools on criteria deemed most important to MBA students and alumni \u2013 everything from diversity of career opportunities to earning potential and networking opportunities. According to The Economist<\/em>, the magazine ranks full-time MBA programs on \"their ability to provide students with the things that they themselves cite as most important\" and weights each element according to the average importance given to it by students. Student and alumni ratings make up 20 per cent of the survey and 80 per cent is based on quantitative data such as student quality, faculty quality, post-MBA salary and salary increase, and breadth of internationalism of alumni.<\/p>\n
