John Armogan, a long-serving employee in circulation services at York’s Scott Library, died suddenly but peacefully Saturday with his family by his side. He was 58.  <\/p>\n

\"\"Mr. Armogan started as a stacker in August 1976, remembers his sister Sandra Armogan-Geness, administrative assistant in Communication Studies who has also worked at York for 35 years. He held a couple of positions before becoming night supervisor, a position that benefited his family, allowing him to care for his twin daughters.<\/p>\n

“John was a fantastic brother, father, husband, uncle, friend and colleague,” said his sister. <\/p>\n

“John was a beloved member of the York community and he will be missed terribly,” wrote Joanie Cameron Pritchett, president of the ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Staff Association, in a condolence message to the family on the Jerrett Funeral Home<\/a>'s website.  <\/p>\n

Other colleagues wrote: “It was such a pleasure working with John at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ. He was always smiling, always polite, always checking in with his staff.” Though he was his supervisor, wrote another, “he was also a friend.” One who worked with him for nine years remembered him as “a wonderful manager and always dealt fairly with his staff.”<\/p>\n

Mr. Armogan is survived by his wife Jan, and daughters Shanna and JaNae. <\/p>\n

Family and friends may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Rd., Scarborough (between Eglinton and St. Clair avenues east) tomorrow from 7 to 9pm, and Friday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will take place Saturday at 1pm in the Jerrett Funeral Home Chapel and interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
