Amy Gaukel has joined the Lassonde School as its first Assistant Dean, Students.<\/p>\n
Gaukel joins\u00a0Lassonde following a successful track record of establishing a support program designed to promote successful student transitions, excellent services, student leadership and advocacy across multiple campuses at Toronto's Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology. Previously, Gaukel worked at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia\u00a0as part of the\u00a0residence life team to\u00a0create a number of residential and positive communities at\u00a0the university.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmy will be focused on achieving the Lassonde School\u2019s commitment to put students first,\" says Lassonde School Dean Janusz Kozinski. \"Amy is a proven leader and innovator in student services. She has an extensive background in developing exceptional student-focused services designed to engage, support, advise and empower students.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cStudents are the number one priority at Lassonde. The creation of a brand new professional school is a unique opportunity to put students in the driver\u2019s seat, putting their needs at the centre of every decision,\u201d said Gaukel.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be here and look forward to working with all parts of ¿ì²¥ÊÓÆµ to build a new School of which we can all be proud,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n Gaukel recently completed a Master of Education specializing in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Calgary.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Lassonde School of Engineering will focus on empowering creative minds to become Renaissance Engineers with skills in entrepreneurship, social responsibility and problem solving \u2013 through a revolutionized classroom environment, multidisciplinary curriculum and integrated learning delivered in partnership with industry.
