Sergey Krylov<\/p><\/div>\n

¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ chemistry Professor <\/span>Sergey Krylov<\/a>, <\/b>Canada Research Chair in Bioanalytical Chemistry, is the recipient of the <\/span>Canadian Society for Chemistry<\/a> (CSC) Maxxam Award. Presented by Maxxam Analytics, a single award is given annually to an academic or industrial scientist who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of analytical chemistry while working in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"I am very honoured to be chosen for the 2014 Maxxam Award. It's a great distinction for myself, my colleagues and collaborators,\u201d said Krylov.<\/p>\n

Krylov used his expertise in physical chemistry and applied mathematics to create the general theory of kinetic capillary electrophoresis<\/a>. He also contributed to the field of analytical chemistry through training more than 80 students and postdoctoral fellows currently working in the Canadian industry and academia.<\/p>\n

\"Chemistry

Barry Lever<\/p><\/div>\n

Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus A. B. P. (Barry) Lever<\/a> <\/b>is the recipient of the CSC\u2019s\u00a02014 E.W.R. Steacie Award,<\/a> which is a career award presented to a scientist who has made a distinguished contribution to chemistry while working in Canada. The CSC also held a symposium in Calgary in 2012 to honour Lever's achievements, and a special issue of the Canadian Journal of Chemistry<\/i> will be published in his honour later this year.<\/p>\n

Lever\u2019s\u00a0Inorganic Electronic Spectroscopy<\/i> (1968, 1984) textbooks have played a crucial role for more than 40 years in training students, globally, in electronic spectroscopy. He is the founding and continuing editor of Coordination Chemistry Reviews<\/i> and established the very successful \"Inorganic Discussion Weekend\" in Ontario, now in its 47th year. His research focuses on the electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of metal complexes accompanied by in-depth theoretical analysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith most of my Canadian career, some 47 years spent at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ, this award attests to the high quality of the\u00a0undergrads, grads and postdoctoral fellows who have worked with me over this long stretch of time,\u201d said Lever.<\/p>\n

Arturo Orellana<\/p><\/div>\n

York Chemistry Professor Arturo Orellana, recipient of the Boehringer Ingelheim Young Investigator Award<\/a> for Organic Chemistry in 2012, has been selected as a recipient for the Thieme Chemistry Journal Award<\/a> for 2014 \u2013 an award given annually to promising young professors at an early stage in their careers.<\/p>\n
