A discussion on women's rights with a focus on intersectionality and inclusivity will be the focus of a 快播视频 event to mark International Women's Day, March 8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (REI) hosts the roundtable discussion \"Reimagining Women's Rights<\/a>\" from\u00a09:30 to 11:30am in Senate Chambers, Ross Building.<\/p>\n

\"IWDSix panelists will lead a discussion on intersectionality, inclusivity and the diversity of experiences within the broad parameters of \"women\u2019s rights.\" Panelists are invited from public, private, and academic sectors whose experiences and expertise will attend to topics such as: ableism, ageism, transphobia, racism, indigeneity.<\/p>\n

Panelists will use this platform to create dialogue about the range of considerations that need to be engaged regarding rights, access and recognition in the context of transforming women's lives. They will also\u00a0consider their own experiences related to opportunities and challenges, and reflect on how to reimagine women\u2019s rights and International Women\u2019s Day in contemporary life.<\/p>\n

Six women from different sectors with diverse professional and personal expertise will be featured on the panel, including:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Francesca Accinelli<\/strong><\/a>, director of Communications and National Promotions, Telefilm Canada
\n\u2022 Shyra Barberstock<\/strong><\/a>, president and CEO, Okwaho Equal Source
\n\u2022 Minha Ha<\/strong><\/a>, PhD candidate, Mechanical Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering
\n\u2022 A.W. Peet<\/strong><\/a>, professor of physics, University of Toronto
\n\u2022 Kim Stanton<\/strong><\/a>, Golblatt Partners LLP
\n\u2022 Kyisha Williams<\/strong><\/a>, filmmaker and public health professional<\/p>\n

The session will be moderated by\u00a0Supriya Dwivedi<\/strong><\/a>, host of the Morning Show<\/em> on Global News Radio 640 Toronto and frequent commentator on CBC\u2019s \u201cPower and Politics\u201d<\/p>\n

Attendees will have an opportunity to engage with the session topic and the panelists.<\/p>\n

International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900s. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women's Day \u2013 it has been an effort by many on a global scale. International Women's Day was designed to bring awareness for unity, celebration, reflection and advocacy for the transformation of women\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

The event is presented in partnership with Lassonde School of Engineering, Office of Alumni Relations and the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies.<\/p>\n
