Students from ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ's Schulich School of Business earned some hardware during the month of January, with four top-three wins at the MBA Games and a second- and third-place finish at the University of Toronto's Live Case Competition.<\/p>\n

University of Toronto's Live Case Competition<\/h4>\n

Schulich\u2019s Undergraduate Case Competition team won second and third place during the University of Toronto\u2019s Live Case Competition<\/a> in mid-January.<\/p>\n

The Live Case Competition brings together students from across the country to compete in multidisciplinary case rounds (i.e. finance, marketing, strategy, sales and operations), network with industry professionals and showcase their skills and talents to partners.<\/p>\n

Schulich had three sponsored teams competing in this year\u2019s competition, which included five overlapping rounds of cases over two days. Students spent weeks preparing for this presentation, including during their holiday break, to represent the school well. This was also the first year that the team had school sponsorship and coaching.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am on cloud nine with the exceptional performance of our teams in this competition,\u201d said Mona Afrouz, marketing and management instructor at Schulich and coach for the Live Case Competition. \u201cThey worked hard for weeks to earn their top spots among 10-plus universities. I couldn\u2019t be a prouder coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

The students who came in second place were: Shelly Keilikhis (BBA \u201920), Liora Epel (BBA \u201920), Aneesa Chohan (BBA \u201921) and Sarah Lord (iBBA \u201920). The students who placed third were: Anika Peng (BBA \u201920), Ramisha Rashid (BBA \u201920), Clarine Chan (BBA \u201920) and Monica Peav (BBA \u201920).<\/p>\n

MBA Games<\/h4>\n

Team Schulich participated the 32nd annual national MBA Games hosted by the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University in early January.<\/p>\n

This three-day competition featured more than 600 students from MBA programs across Canada competing in academic, athletic and spirit challenges for the coveted Queen\u2019s Cup.<\/p>\n

\"\"The theme for this year\u2019s event was \u201cBusiness with Purpose,\u201d and teams were challenged to reflect this theme in their three-minute video submission. Schulich focused on their relationship with Dixon Hall, a charity supported by their sponsor, RBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce again, the competition was fierce, with so many strong schools and bright students participating,\u201d said Marketing Professor Joe Fayt. \u201cOur team represented Schulich in the best possible light, with hard work, determination and good sportsmanship.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the first time ever, all four case teams advanced to the finals, with two teams finishing in first place, in the Finance and Corporate Social Responsibility categories. Case team members, Krithika Kashyap (MBA \u201820) and Cam Teschuk (MBA\/JD \u201821) competed on both days and advanced to the finals twice.<\/p>\n

Schulich's team performed consistently across all categories, and finished in second place overall in academics, and third place in athletics and spirit. Schulich also raised more than $12,000 for the charity, Empowerment Squared<\/a>, and was the second highest contributor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
