The Senate Committee on Awards is now accepting nominations for\u00a0University Professorships\u00a0and\u00a0Distinguished Research Professorships.<\/p>\n

University Professorships are conferred upon long-serving tenured faculty members who have demonstrated a commitment to participation in University life and\/or contribution to the University as a community, as well as appropriate levels of scholarship and teaching success.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Distinguished Research Professorship\u00a0is awarded to a member of the faculty who has made outstanding contributions to the University through research. The Distinguished Research Professor will have demonstrated scholarly achievement by sustained publication or other recognized and accepted demonstrations of sustained authoritative contributions to scholarship.<\/p>\n

Nominations may be made by all tenured faculty members, who shall provide a complete nomination file, including the nominee\u2019s c.v., a detailed letter of nomination explaining how the candidate\u2019s achievements conform to the general criteria, along with three (3) letters of support from those in a position to comment on the nominee\u2019s achievements and contributions.<\/p>\n

Additional details about the criteria and nomination procedures are set out in the\u00a0Senate Policy on Honorific Professorships<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0nomination form<\/a>\u00a0is available on the\u00a0Awards Committee website<\/a>.\u00a0The deadline for submission is Friday,\u00a0March 6<\/strong>. Nominations may be submitted electronically to\u00a0kwhite1@yorku.ca<\/a>\u00a0or to the University secretariat at 1050 Kaneff Tower.<\/p>\n
