Canadian musician, writer and artist Vivek Shraya<\/a>\u202fwill deliver the 2022 Kitty Lundy Memorial Lecture, exploring the theme of reinvention through collaboration.  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The lecture, titled \u201cCollaboration as a Path to Reinvention,\u201d will take place on March 28<\/strong> at 6 p.m. It will be a hybrid event taking place virtually and in person with limited seating available.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shraya will examine how the act of collaborating with others not only offers the possibility of creating more meaningful and nuanced works, but also the opportunity to reveal and be a new version of oneself. She is one of Canada\u2019s most exciting multi-media artists, merging the boundaries of literature, music, theatre, film and fine art. Her album Part-Time Woman<\/em> was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and her best-selling book I\u2019m Afraid of Men<\/em> was heralded by Vanity Fair<\/em> magazine as \u201ccultural rocket fuel\u201d and prompted important conversations about misogyny, homophobia and transphobia.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shraya is a 快播视频 alumna, holding a master\u2019s degree in Gender, Feminist & Women\u2019s Studies<\/a>. An accomplished author and musician, Shraya is also an assistant professor of creative writing at the University of Calgary and founder of VS Books, which offers\u202fmentorship and publishing opportunities for emerging BIPOC writers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Kitty Lundy Memorial Lecture<\/a> honours the late Kitty Lundy, an admired educator of sociology who was associated with 快播视频\u2019s former Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies from 1986-89. Lundy was known for her commitment to students, her deep connection to social justice issues and her passion for teaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To honour her memory, the Lundy family established the Kitty Lundy Memorial Fund, which supports the annual lecture. Each year, the memorial lecture features an individual whose scholarship and creativity address principles to which Kitty Lundy exhibited commitment: engaged learning, equity, and the dissemination and exchange of ideas and knowledge with communities residing within and outside of 快播视频. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
