On Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m<\/strong>., the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change (EUC) will host Earth Day with YorkU. This virtual event will honour Earth Day 2022 and highlight the positive change EUC is making for people and the planet.   <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As a community, EUC believes that making positive change requires bold and diverse thinking, ambitious action and community engagement. The event will include a welcome address from EUC Dean Alice J. Hovorka<\/strong>, who will share how the newest Faculty at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ is mobilizing knowledge for a just and sustainable future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A keynote address from one of EUC\u2019s prestigious Top 30 Alumni Under 30<\/a>, Elijah (Eli) Bawuah <\/strong>(BA\u201918, MES\u201921), will share his experiences at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ and how EUC shaped his career journey. Bawuah is a practicing urban planner and public consultant with multi-disciplinary experience gained by working in a spectrum of city and community-building roles.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will include a student experience panel featuring Nikash Persaud<\/strong> from the <\/strong>Urban and Regional Environments program and Summer Solmes<\/strong> and Catherine Lombardo<\/strong> from the Environmental Management program. The panel will discuss their changemaker experiences and will be moderated by EUC Experiential Education Coordinator Aren Sammy<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will conclude with a moment of reflection to bring all attendees together for a united community pledge to right the future in honour of Earth Day 2022.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earth Day<\/a> was first celebrated on April 22 in 1970. Over the years, it has become the largest participatory environmental movement on the planet, helping people and organizations reduce their environmental impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
