University summer hours began on May 20 and are in effect until Sept. 2. This means that the workday ends at 3:30 p.m. on Fridays throughout the summer months. To help ensure everyone can take advantage of these reduced hours, all faculty, instructors, and staff whose responsibilities include hosting meetings are encouraged to avoid scheduling meetings late on Friday afternoons, when possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to summer hours, the University is implementing a new <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/secretariat\/policies\/policies\/disconnecting-from-work-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Disconnecting from Work Policy<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>effective, Wednesday, June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New Disconnect from Work Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to calling the election, the provincial government changed the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) to include a requirement for all Ontario workplaces to have a written policy on disconnecting from work.\u00a0The University\u2019s policy supports our ongoing commitment to the mental health and well-being of the York community. It reaffirms existing practices and recommendations such as limiting work-related communications outside of scheduled work hours. The Human Resources team has provided some suggestions on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/yulink-new.yorku.ca\/group\/yulink\/working-remotely?p_p_id=56_INSTANCE_GR1iZt7oUAut&amp;p_p_lifecycle=0&amp;p_p_state=normal&amp;p_p_mode=view&amp;p_p_col_id=column-2&amp;p_p_col_count=1\" target=\"_blank\">yu link<\/a> to help faculty, instructors and staff disconnect, when feasible, and find balance in their schedule.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking the time to regularly disconnect from work is important. It helps to achieve a healthy and sustainable work-life balance. Anyone with specific questions about the policy should reach out to their manager or supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hybrid Work Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>The<\/a> planned <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/yulink-new.yorku.ca\/group\/yulink\/hybrid-work-policy?inheritRedirect=true\" target=\"_blank\">Hybrid Work Policy<\/a> for applicable employee groups is part of York\u2019s commitment to exploring and establishing innovative ways of working that serve our diverse community and advance our commitment to Living Well Together. Thank you to those employees who participated in the survey, there was a 53.4 per cent participation rate. The results from the survey, along with best practice research, will inform York\u2019s Hybrid Work policy, which is on track to be rolled out in the summer for September implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, we can continue to promote a healthy workplace arrangement and foster a culture that values faculty, instructors and staff well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you. La Politique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 soutient son engagement continu envers la sant\u00e9 mentale et le bien-\u00eatre de la communaut\u00e9 de York. Elle r\u00e9affirme les pratiques et recommandations existantes, telles que la limitation des communications li\u00e9es au travail en dehors des heures de travail pr\u00e9vues. Toute personne ayant des questions pr\u00e9cises sur cette politique doit s\u2019adresser \u00e0 son gestionnaire ou \u00e0 son superviseur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Politique de travail hybride<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Politique de <a href=\"https:\/\/yulink-new.yorku.ca\/group\/yulink\/hybrid-work-policy?inheritRedirect=true\">travail hybride<\/a> pr\u00e9vue fait partie de l\u2019engagement de York \u00e0 explorer et \u00e0 \u00e9tablir des m\u00e9thodes de travail innovantes qui servent notre communaut\u00e9 diversifi\u00e9e et font progresser notre engagement \u00e0 mieux vivre ensemble.
