快播视频 has released its 2024 Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) Report<\/a>, detailing progress in addressing global challenges through research, innovation and education. The report highlights the University\u2019s role in advancing the United Nations\u2019 17 SDGs and maintaining a position among the top 35 institutions globally in the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings<\/a>.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The report outlines key achievements, including an 82 per cent reduction in carbon emissions from investments, and the protection of over 785 acres of greenspace. These efforts support York\u2019s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, a decade ahead of its initial target.<\/p>\n\n\n

Projects featured in the report include the BEST Startup Experience<\/a>, which fosters student innovation aligned with the SDGs, and the Maloca Community Garden, a living lab, promoting urban agriculture and sustainability. The Microlecture Series in Sustainable Living<\/a> also engaged more than 1,000 participants in practical sustainability actions since its inception. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

York\u2019s initiatives addressing equity and inclusion include the Black Youth Housing Project (SDG 10 \u2013 Reduced Inequalities) and Advancing YU<\/a>, a mentorship program for Black and women students (SDG 5 \u2013 Gender Equality). Research efforts such as studies on biodiversity preservation and water management continue to advance SDGs 13 (Climate Action) and 14 (Life Below Water). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

York has also advanced its institutional commitments through the launch of a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy<\/a> and a Well-Being Strategy<\/a>, both designed to integrate sustainability and health into all aspects of University life. The signing of the Okanagan Charter<\/a> further reinforces York\u2019s dedication to embedding health promotion and sustainability into its policies and practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
