{"id":90,"date":"2002-09-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-09-17T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yfiledev.uit.yorku.ca\/2002\/09\/17\/intellectual-properties\/"},"modified":"2025-04-08T13:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T17:02:07","slug":"intellectual-properties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/yfile\/2002\/09\/17\/intellectual-properties\/","title":{"rendered":"Intellectual properties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/yfile\/photos\/20020917\/Coombe_Shap.JPG\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\"><span style=\"color: initial; font-size: revert;\">Canada Research Chair (CRC) Rosemary Coombe was the happy recipient of a framed certificate from the prime minister of Canada, delivered to her recently by York VP Research &amp; Innovation Stan Shapson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>CRC in law, communications and culture and professor in the Division of Social Science, Coombe has written a definitive book entitled <i>The Cultural Life of Intellectual Properties<\/i>. She has been dedicating her research to the study of intellectual property in the Faculty of Arts as part of a research team whose program is a flagship of the University\u2019s Strategic Research Plan. The program crosses the disciplines of comparative political economy, international studies, communications, cultural studies, sustainability and law and society.<\/p>\n<p>Coombe will continue to examine intellectual property rights within the context of culture and globalization, and to develop guidelines for new laws protecting
