Health faculty and staff are all able to host their own episode of the REEL Health Chat Podcast by . Episodes are produced, recorded, and edited by the Faculty of Health. Hosts are responsible in finding a guest and planning out discussion questions.

Hosts should keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Episodes must be less than 22 minutes long unedited.
  • Episodes can be audio-only if requested.
  • York's DEDI Strategy must be upheld at all times
  • The Faculty of Health reserves the right to decline posting episodes on faculty websites and social medias.

Every REEL Health Chat episode follows the mandate of "Sharing upstream change in the community and beyond." This means that each episode must discuss topics relating to health innovation or health advocacy within in the York community, nationally, or globally.

Guests must be credible, verified to be able to speak on the chosen topic, and have experience in public speaking. Ideally, a REEL Health conversation is dynamic, informative, and banter-like. Discussions should not sound or feel like interrogations or lectures, and subject matter should be information that is not taught within the curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

Faculty of Health students, staff, and faculty members can use the studio free of charge .

Priority is given to projects focusing on Experiential Education initiatives within the Faculty of Health including reflection assignments for courses.
Others individuals will need approval — email eehealth@yorku.ca.

Go to and select an available time. Fully complete all requested information fields to assist our team in accommodating your needs. A confirmation email will be sent along with the terms of use for the space. Bookings are first-come, first-served

You can record videos, podcasts, and other projects for your courses or programs. The studio is equipped with video editing software however most video editing should take place outside the studio so others can use the recording equipment. Our team will be happy to guide you to editing tools and software that can be used to finalize your project.

Bookings can be made for 60, 90, 120, or 150 minutes per session. Please only book for the time you need to allow others to access the studio.

No. All equipment must stay inside HNES 419. If you need to borrow cameras or gear, please use the Media Creation Lab at Scott Library.

Bring your project plan and your own USB or SSD to save your files. We do not store created content in the studio.

Our team will be available to open and provide orientation to the studio and the equipment. Please ask questions if you are unsure.
When booking the studio, describe the type of project (e.g. photo, video, podcast etc.) and whether you will need additional assistance so we can best prepare the studio and our team.
We support a number of projects at any given time, each with their own deadlines. If more technical support is required, please let us know in advance so we can try to accommodate and allocate time to adequately support your project.
